Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She received an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. 1976 Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was named as the head White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell hosted and participated as a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as weapons control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended many summits with the help of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
