Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's first attempts at success in mainstream music failed, two record labels signing but then removing her prior to any material was released. However, in 2007, Capitol Records put out Perry's EP Ur So Gay which attracted only a little attention because of its humorous title track. I Kissed a Girl - an ode of sexual curiosity - was dropped a couple of months later. The track featured a raunchy electro-pop sound, and had a strong position. The song caused controversy many critics claiming it of promoting sexual relations between men and women, while others saying that the sexually explicit scenario depicted was designed to cater to men's fantasies. I Kissed a Girl was a smash hit for Perry's album One of the Boys in 2008 due to the mix of excitement and melodicism. Hot N Cold, Perry's bouncy and sharply-tongued album with the song that was its second biggest hit was a hit. The album which Perry wrote herself, sold over three million copies.
